Creative Community Manager

Join a team of pretty decent humans (some say, not bad at all), at She Was Such A Good Horse, a Malmö-based indie game studio desperately trying to create heartfelt gaming experiences.  We’re looking for a Creative Community Manager who can pretend (momentarily at least) to not be terrified of human interaction and connect with players. If you think indie games are cool, have a knack for content creation, and like hearing feedback that you’ll ignore then we’d love to meet you!

Founded in 2021 by a group of long company name enthusiasts. Our studio is a place where really, really ridiculously good ideas are born, and sometimes we also make games. We think it’s neat to have a flexible, inclusive work culture that balances creativity with well-being. With an open-minded approach to work, we focus on creating games and dad jokes.

As the Creative Community Manager, you will become the stick between our team and our players, poking them, building and nurturing a super cool community, and ensuring the voices of our gamers are heard, maybe not by us, but you, dear, dear community manager.

What You'll Do:

  • Content Creation:
    • Develop, plan, and execute engaging, trend-driven content (memes, GIFs, short videos, polls, and more) for platforms like TikTok, Twitter (X), Instagram, and Reddit.
    • Adapt emerging social media trends and creatively align them with the tone and humor of our soon to be announced game.
    • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to create eye-catching shorts/reels, behind-the-scenes videos, developer updates, and in-game highlights.

  • Community Engagement:
    • Build, grow, and manage an active, engaged community on Discord, Steam forums, and social media.
    • Act as the main point of contact for the player base, interacting directly with the community through AMAs, developer diaries, live Q&As, and regular updates.
    • Foster a welcoming environment, encouraging user-generated content and managing community events and playtests.

  • Organizing Playtests:
    • Plan, schedule, and manage playtesting sessions to gather valuable player feedback.
    • Create feedback forms and surveys to gather structured data and insights from players post-playtest.
    • Analyze feedback, organize reports, and collaborate with the development team to improve the game based on real player experiences.

  • Trendspotting & Adaptation:
    • Stay ahead of the curve by identifying emerging social trends and finding ways to weave them into our brand voice and content.
    • Constantly innovate by testing new ideas and formats to engage players and keep the community buzzing.

  • Metrics & Sentiment Monitoring:
    • Regularly monitor social media and community sentiment through forums, reviews, and surveys to keep a pulse on the player base.
    • Track and report on community metrics (engagement, follower growth, sentiment), and adjust strategies accordingly to improve engagement.
    • Use data from playtests and ongoing community feedback to inform the development team of any key trends or recurring issues.

  • Feedback Loops:
    • Collect and report player feedback from playtests, community discussions, and social interactions, and work closely with the development team to ensure player voices are heard and addressed.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: 2+ years in community management, social media, or content creation for a gaming studio, with a portfolio showcasing creative content ideas.

  • Content Creation Savvy: Proven track record of creating engaging, high-quality content across social platforms like TikTok, Twitter (X), Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube.

  • Trend-Savvy: Ability to spot viral trends and adapt them in a timely and relevant way, especially within the gaming community.

  • Playtest Experience: Demonstrated experience in organizing playtests, collecting player feedback, and working with development teams to incorporate those insights.

  • Gaming Expertise: Passion for indie games, roguelites, and an understanding of the gaming community’s culture and humor.

  • Metrics-Focused: Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor social media metrics and community sentiment to inform strategies.

  • Multitasker: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple platforms, trends, and content pieces simultaneously.

  • Urgency: Someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and can adapt quickly to changing needs, adhere to deadlines especially leading up to major events.

  • Roguelite Enjoyer: We also hope that you enjoy the type of game we’re creating, since you’ll likely play it a lot!

Why Join Us?

At She Was Such A Good Horse, we are not just making games - we are building a home where we can tell really dull jokes in our discord and get 1 sometimes 2 laugh emojis and whoever adds that weird emoji that I don’t know what it means, but I never address it as that would be me confessing not knowing it and it has been going on for way too long. We also have a friendly work environment. Tl;dr:

    • Work-life balance: 7-hour workdays and 6 weeks of vacation.
    • Freedom to create: We believe in autonomy and trust.
    • Collaborative vibes: We foster a friendly, supportive environment where ideas thrive.
    • Flexible work culture
